THE FUTURE IS AUTOMATIC

ROBOTIC HANDLING SOLUTIONS FOR FLEXIBLE CUTTING AUTOMATION

The new automation solution designed by IMA Schelling is the ideal automation system specifically for manufacturers, dealers and material processors of aluminium boards who, in addition to a large amount of customized cut-to-size parts, in many cases also produce small batches or even large batches. Each solution is matched individually to the specific sequences and requirements found on the production site and, in combination with an aluminium saw of the fm6 or fm8 type, it can even make the purchase of a second saw obsolete.

BENEFITS OF ROBOTIZED AUTOMATION:

  • Possibility of fully automatic operation and manual operation
  • Taking advantage of unmanned ghost shift running
  • Machine intelligence – material-based parameter set management
  • Machine-compatible and material-compatible processing

  • Fully automated processing of remnants
  • Increased production capacity
  • Alloy sensing and separation
  • Identification of cut-to-size parts and remnants
  • Savings in time and material

TETRIS STACKING AND SPEEDPART CAPABILITIES

The robot picks up the raw boards from the feeding position using a vacuum pick-up device and feeds the boards to the saw. According to the cutting plan, the saw produces cut to size parts which are automatically buffered and rotated for the cross-cutting process. The finished sized components are then automatically stacked in accordance with a predetermined stack layout so that they are arranged horizontally in a stack next to each other in order to minimize empty space and utilize the whole surface of the pallet. The robot automatically pushes waste parts in a drop box provided for that purpose; in this process, alloys can be separated. In order to avoid production of small off-cuts, the machine performs half-kerf cuts at the front and back. This saves even more time and materials.

Precision makes the difference

WITH THE “PRECISION” BUSINESS UNIT, THE IMA SCHELLING GROUP IS BUNDLING ITS COMPETENCIES IN THE AREA OF METALS, PLASTICS AND BUILDING MATERIALS AS WELL AS ELECTRONICS.

“IMA Schelling Precision” is a business sector, established for decades, of today's IMA Schelling Group. The first product was an aluminium panel cutting saw. Today the portfolio comprises fully-automatic panel saws and manual precision saws for metal, printed circuit boards, plastics and building materials as well as solutions for panel storage, feeding, stacking, packaging and chip and dust extraction.

GREAT DEMANDS ON PERFORMANCE, PRECISION, RELIABILITY AND SERVICE

Since the automotive industry and its suppliers as well as the aircraft construction industry are placing increasingly greater demands on their methods of production, the “Precision” business unit has evolved to become the technology leader in the relevant industries and is now providing solutions which are unequalled in terms of serviceable life, quality and precision. The same holds for the customer service with its highly qualified and experienced staff. “Our customers benefit from the clear-cut separation of the IMA Schelling business units”, Freuis says. “The unambiguous assignment of all tasks to business units allows us to focus on their needs and expand our capabilities in the sector by setting clear objectives.”“

STRATEGY FOR CONTINUOUS GROWTH

Today, the 'IMA Schelling Precision' business unit comprises 11 employees including BU manager Markus Freuis. But the 'handling equipment and packaging lines' field is expected to grow over the medium term. According to Freuis, this expansion has a clearly stated objective:

To develop flexible customer-specific solutions based on fully automated, powerful and intelligent machines and to offer excellent service worldwide.

“We guarantee our customers a reliable partnership over many years and efficient production now and in the future”, says Freuis.
