A unique selling point – 90° inner radius gluing

More automation and fewer set-up times for BIMA Px80

Efficiency, maximum quality, and especially innovative solutions for the CNC machining and edge banding free-form parts – the BIMA Px80 automated high-performance gantry- type machine from IMA Schelling has many advantages. Now there is now a new, unique option for an even higher degree of automation and reduced set-up times: automatic, 90° inner radius gluing for the VT 100/100 edge banding unit that works with hotmelt glue.

If a 90° corner has to be glued, a prism on the trailing roller integrated into the machine automatically moves forward. As the main pressure piece, it takes on the task of the main pressure roller in the 90° radius. If radii are to be created or edge- banded, the control system simply removes the prism from the process. Unlike before, the machine does not have to be re-adjusted every time. Everything happens completely automatically and the operator does not need to intervene.

In addition, it is now possible to be much more flexible when machining very small internal radii or other corner radii on the BIMA Px80. In a short, manual intervention, the prism in front of the trailing roller can be replaced by a small pressure roller with a very small radius, or by a different prism. Otherwise, nothing about the functional principle changes.

IMA Schelling has previously offered the 90° inner radius gluing option. This was already a clear improvement to the process, which in many cases is still carried out manually at manual workplaces. With inside corner gluing, however, intervention was necessary every time, to manually replace the main pressure roller with the prism. The development of a prism that moves forward automatically is now the logical further development for 90° inner radius gluing.

IMA Schelling also refined and improved the corresponding finishing unit to ensure a perfect finish for 90° inner radius. The user now has the ability to generate numerous edges, radii, and corner variants on their BIMA Px80 fully automatically in one contour path, thus raising their furniture design to a different level.

Incidentally the „fully-automatic 90° inner radius gluing“ option can generally be retrofitted to existing machines, although this must be checked in each individual case.
