Customer wishes fulfilled to the letter
The IMA Schelling group develops tailor-made solutions for its customers.
Swiss kitchen manufacturer Veriset is an example of just how specific customer requirements can be.
Due to the ever-growing demand for its kitchens, the Swiss kitchen manufacturer needed a large plant with two interlinked edge processing machines.
These had to have a special plant layout and satisfy four very specific requirements:
Customer requirement
It had to be possible to operate the edge processing machines, arranged longitudinally one behind the other, on the same side.
IMA Schelling solution
On machines arranged one behind the other, the reference line usually changes, and with it the side from which they are operated. To solve this, the IMA Schelling project team developed a double turning station, which turns the workpiece by 180° rather than 90°. As a result, it is now possible for one employee to operate both edge processing machines on one side.
Customer requirement
If one edge processing machine were to fail, the other had to be able to continue with production.
IMA Schelling solution
The turning station was mounted on guide rails. If one machine fails, the machine operator can move the station manually and the other machine can continue with production.
Customer requirement
Superimposed or milled-in handle strip fronts had to be produced in an automated manner.
IMA Schelling solution
As part of a sophisticated concept, several grooving units work together in an interlinked formation. The particularly high precision of this groove machining directly benefits the furniture fitters, who are able to build the furniture faster.
Customer requirement
The plant had to machine extremely long and narrow workpieces.
IMA Schelling solution
IMA Schelling established test production specifically for this purpose at the site in Lübbecke. Workpieces with a length of 2700 millimeters and a width of 104 millimeters, which are used as base faceplates, were produced. Test production tested whether the IMA Schelling infeed and end stop system could cope with such unusual dimensions. The results of the test were impressive.
