IMA Schelling Precision Presents xm 250 at ALUMINIUM 2026
New Cross-Cut Saw for Aluminum, Non-Ferrous Metals, Solid and Hollow Profiles
With the xm 250, IMA Schelling is bringing its first largely standardized cross-cut saw to the market – ready for series production. It automatically adapts to the material and cross-section, thereby closing a long-standing gap. It will be presented for the first time at ALUMINIUM 2026 from October 6 to 8 in Düsseldorf.
Anyone who cuts aluminum or non-ferrous metal profiles has often had to improvise with a panel saw in the past. This means manual infeeding, one operator per machine, and scrap when processing sensitive profiles.
The Answer for the Market: Automation from Loading to Unloading
The xm 250 is aimed precisely at these customers. It combines the experience that IMA Schelling has gathered over the years in numerous customer-specific projects. As a universal cross-cut saw, the xm 250 is suitable for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, solid material as well as hollow profiles. “Our customers have repeatedly asked us: When are you actually going to launch this product? Now it’s here,” says Dieter Zucalli, Product Manager Precision at IMA Schelling.
The xm 250 automates the entire process from loading to removal. With a 62-kW motor, a cutting height of 250 mm, a cutting length of 650 mm, and an infeed depth of 3,000 to 6,500 mm, it is designed for demanding series production tasks. Its target customers are aluminum service centers and extrusion plants.
Intelligent Pressure Beam for Sensitive Profiles
The central element of the xm 250 is its fully automatic pressure beam. Simply select the profile shape, and the machine takes care of the rest: It measures height and width and automatically sets the pressure forces and cutting parameters. This is particularly important for sensitive materials: A very thin-walled tube must retain its shape when clamped. The electronically controlled pressure beam of the xm 250 precisely adjusts the force for every material and every wall thickness.
Various sawing modes for maximum throughput as well as the possibility of sawing narrow or very small parts make the machine a flexible system. “The xm 250 can cut everything from 10 × 10-mm square tubes to 250-mm round or square tubes. With the corresponding pressure forces, it adjusts itself completely automatically,” explains Zucalli.
One Operator for Two to Three Saws
Thanks to the high degree of automation, one skilled worker can operate two to three saws simultaneously. Anyone who already owns a panel saw from IMA Schelling will also quickly find their way around: intuitive operating concept, the same contact persons. The xm 250 is modular in design and can be expanded step by step, up to unmanned operation. Open interfaces enable connection to MDE, BDE, and production control systems. Stefan Niederacher, Head of Sales Precision at IMA Schelling, puts the claim in a nutshell: “Precise, high-quality, and fast – that’s what you buy this machine for.” The little sister, the xm 150, complements the portfolio, with an identical footprint, a cutting height of 150 mm, and 34 kW motor power.
Premiere for the Industry in October
At ALUMINIUM 2026 in Düsseldorf from October 6 to 8, Booth 3E22, IMA Schelling will present the xm 250 for the first time – with an extraction system and all features of the series machine. Visitors can view the plant from the outside and inside. Live demonstrations will show the saw with challenging profile shapes, thin-walled tubes, and atypical cross-sections.
