Automated cutting and handling solutions can make cut-to-size lines for aluminium much more efficient. IMA Schelling Precision will be showing two innovations for different performance classes at ALUMINIUM 2022 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

The saw-robot combination of the IMA Schelling business unit Precision in action: The robotic arm automates the process and automatically loads the saw with aluminium panels weighing up to 500 kilograms.

The handling of the precision saws fm 10 and fm 12 from IMA Schelling can be largely automated with the Automatic Manipulation device (AMD) to automate the handling of the precision saws.

The product innovations from IMA Schelling Precision raise the efficiency in the cutting of aluminium sheets to a new level.

The sawing robot solution with articulated arm robot is adapted to the cut-to-size saw fm 6 from IMA Schelling Precision. With the aid of the robot arm with variable vacuum load pick-up, it expands manual systems into automated processing cells. Cuttings with a high handling effort can thus be carried out fully automatically. Resources that are freed up can be used elsewhere in the company. Feeding and handling at the saw are automated and surface-friendly on an air cushion manipulation surface. Blanks and offcuts are automatically stacked by the robot-saw-solution. The system sorts offcuts that cannot be reused further into separate containers according to alloy. The degree of automation can be customised according to the customer's wishes.

  • can be combined with the panel-sizing saw fm 6
  • motor output of 27 kW

The Automatic Manipulation Device (AMD) is tailor-made for tasks with larger panel dimensions and higher throughput. The two-dimensional handling device with linear robot and air cushion manipulation table automates the complete handling at the saw for block materials. This enables fully automatic panel cutting on the cut-to-size saws fm 10 and fm 12. The AMD is fed either via vacuum systems or a preparation table. The air cushion manipulation surface for precise handling in front of the saw is designed for panel weights up to 2,600 kg. Cuttings can be automatically labelled before processing. Splitting and ejection are fully automatic, as is the disposal of off-cuts. An automatic cleaning programme for the manipulation table and the Clean Up concept for waste at the saw are integrated. The entire system can be controlled with the IPC.Net process control software.

  • can be combined with the panel-sizing saws fm 10 and fm 12
  • motor outputs from 55 kW to 68 kW
  • panel or package thicknesses up to 235 mm
  • cutting lengths 330 to 430 mm
  • suitable for full-size panels
  • panel weight at the manipulator up to a maximum of 2,600 kg

For the first time, IMA Schelling Precision will be exhibiting at ALUMINIUM 2022 together with its technology partner TAC Performance. The company provides consulting and conceptual services for IMA Schelling Precision customers.

With "TAC Performance Tools", users of IMA Schelling systems receive saw blades for a wide range of materials that are perfectly matched to their needs. These are available at short notice via the webshop. For sawing non-ferrous metals, TAC Performance supplies the optimum cutting oils.

In addition, "TAC Performance-Technologies" prepares the optimum sawing parameters and an overview of the production performance of their machines and saw blades for IMA Schelling customers. Furthermore, TAC Performance provides qualified trainers for production support on request as well as selective support by specially trained plant operators.
