FULLYAUTOMATED EFFICIENCY
CUT-TO-SIZE ALUMINUM AND AN ARTICULATED-ARM ROBOT
The new automation solution from IMA Schelling is ideal for manufacturers, dealers, and processors of aluminum panels who not only produce a high volume of individual cut-to-size parts, but also frequently require small or even large batches.
It is based on a manual cut-to-size saw of the fm series, in combination with an articulated-arm robot and a manipulation surface with air flotation. It is specifically tailored to the respective on-site processes and requirements, and in combination with a type fm 6 or fm 8 aluminum saw, can even make it unnecessary to buy a second saw.
ADVANTAGES OF AUTOMATION

TETRIS STACKING AND SPEEDPART CAPABILITIES
The robot uses a vacuum load pick-up to pick up the raw panels from the infeed position and feeds the panels to the saw. The saw produces cut-to-size parts according to the cutting pattern, automatically buffers them, and rotates them for transverse parting. The articulated-arm robot then stacks the finished cut-to-size parts in accordance with a predetermined stacking pattern, arranging the stacks horizontally next to one another in order to minimize empty space and make full use of the entire stack area. Waste parts are automatically pushed into a box provided for the purpose, with alloy separation also being possible here. To avoid small waste parts, the machine performs scratch-cuts at the front and back. This saves even more time and materials.

FOR HEAVY ALUMINUM PANELS
HANDLING CONTROLLED BY A LINEAR ROBOT
The fm 12 precision saw for aluminum and non-ferrous metals can handle panel thicknesses up to 250 mm. As an add-on for the large fm 12 and fm 10 saws, IMA Schelling has developed an automation solution: the "Automatic Manipulation Device" (AMD). This is especially useful for dealing with heavy, full-size aluminum master panels, for example.
AUTOMATED STRIP HANDLING
Strip handling, from cutting to size to discharging the finished parts, is controlled by a linear robot. An air flotation manipulation table ensures low-friction and material-friendly turning of the aluminum panels. After the cut-to-size process, the robot removes the finished parts with a suction gripper, and discharges them onto roller tracks.
Large remnants and cut-tosize parts that are not directly intended for further processing, are returned to the warehouse. If a workpiece needs additional work, the robot accurately turns it to the cut-to-size system again. The feed and turning speed of the linear robot adapts to the panel thickness and the properties of the material.
MAKING OPTIMUM USE OF RAW PANELS
At the customer's request, an automatic labeling station can be integrated before the panel is cut to size. The planning software allows several orders to be completed in one operation, making optimum use of the raw panels and greatly increasing the throughput of the cut-to-size system.

With this system, we are optimizing material utilization and avoiding small, awkward remnants. Minimal waste material is automatically removed or machined and suctioned away.
Inside
SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE
This summer, IMA Schelling Deutschland (formerly IMA Klessmann) held a belated celebration for last year's seventieth anniversary at the Lübbecke site, with around 500 employees. Everyone was delighted to use the occasion to finally get together again. Current employees met up with former staff who had been with the company in the early days. Everyone was in party mood and had a great evening with live music, delicious food, and an anniversary laser show. So once again, it seems fitting to raise a glass and look forward to many more successful years as an innovative and fast-growing company!
FIT FOR THE FUTURE WITH TECH'N'TALENTS
With immediate effect, a new name will be used to refer to the promotion of the next generation and the provision of training at the IMA Schelling Group: Tech'n'Talents. In addition to factory tours for schools and colleges, intern days, and job fairs, open house days will also be organized for interested trainees and apprentices at the Lübbecke and Schwarzach sites under this name. The new scheme was launched in June this year, at the Tech'n'Talents Festival in Lübbecke. Professional training courses and dual study programs were presented in a relaxed atmosphere with a Grill&Chill area and DIY activities. The same is planned for November at the Schwarzach site.
